SONS GRAB FIRST POINT
22-Aug-2009
Iain Chisholm celebrates his late equaliser with Roddy Hunter.
But a few minutes before half-time came an incident which changed the match. Roddy Hunter tried to take the ball from Clyde keeper Craig Reidford so that a corner could be taken, but the keeper attempted to head butt him with referee Bobby Madden standing three yards away.
He was instantly red-carded, and 16 year-old Jordan Allan took over in goal. Just before the break Sons pressure paid off when skipper Michael Dunlop headed a goal from close range.
In the second half the home side played much better football, and the equaliser finally arrived when striker Roddy Hunter netted for the second time in a week. However Clyde went ahead again a minute later when a stunning free kick from a trialist streaked past keeper Mark McGeown.
It looked like the points were heading to Cumbernauld, but four minutes before the end substitute Iain Chisholm headed home to give Sons a welcome first point of the campaign.
