SONS WELL BEATEN

Stevie Murray tries a shot.
12-Dec-2009
The Methil men arrived at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium to find the home side having a real off day, to the delight of a small band of Fife fans in the 628-strong crowd.Striker Paul McManus — many times a thorn in the Sons flesh over his years at Raith Rovers and then East Fife — opened the scoring shortly before the interval with a shot which gave keeper Jan Vojacek no chance.
After the break a stunning overhead kick by defender Jonathan Smart soared past the keeper for no.2, and the writing was on the wall for a Dumbarton side unable to find any cohesion in attack.
Striker Roddy Hunter came close on a couple of occasions as the home side tried to get back into the game, but as the fog began to close in David Muir netted a tap-in shortly before the final whistle to clinch the points for player/manager Stevie Crawford's men.
