SONS STUN BINOS

Scott Chaplain tries to lob the keeper.
Two second half goals by Dennis Wyness could well have ended Albion's second division titles hopes, and kept Jim Chapman's men in contention for a play-off place.

Dumbarton started the game positively, with efforts from Wyness and Scott Chaplain coming close. But ex-Son Allan Moore's side — which included another ex-Son, Ian Russell, on loan from Morton — also mounted several attacks inspired by good play on both wings.

Half-time arrived with the scoresheet still surprisingly blank, but five minutes after the restart Nathan Taggart fired a shot across the crowded goalmouth and into the far corner of the net to put the Binos in front.

However their lead only last three minutes, as a cross from the left wing found Wyness in space and he calmly lobbed the keeper to level the score.

The winner came a few minutes before the end, when substitute Derek Carcary outpaced a defender, veered towards the left side of the box, then swivelled and sent a low cross which found Wyness all alone at the far post to tap home a simple and deserved winner.
