DEFEAT ENDS SONS SEASON

Dumbarton fans greet their team before the kick-off.

The travelling fans who cheered their team on to the park could not have expected what followed. Clyde may have been down, but they were certainly out to show what they were capable of.That turned out to be three stunning goals in the first 15 minutes past a shocked comeback Czech keeper Jan Vojacek, playing probably his last match for Sons. It could have been more, but for some good saves.
Sons continued to press forward, but too often passes were misplaced and possession was given back to the lively home team.
However the visitors did pull a goal back shortly before half-time when midfielder Ryan McStay netted with a rasping drive from outside the penalty box.
In the second half Dumbarton dominated for long periods, and a few minutes before the end striker Dennis Wyness netted a fine second goal from close range.
But any chance of pressing for an equaliser died moments later when Clyde broke out of defence and ex-Son Adam Strachan, a thorn in their flesh all afternoon, netted a stunning solo goal to make sure of the three points.
