ANOTHER LATE WINNER

Sheer joy after Pat Walker's winner.
DUMBARTON clinched victory with a late goal for the third match in a row away to Airdrie United.

Some 750 spectators saw a competitive match played on a very cold and wet afternoon, with blustery gale-force winds, at the Excelsior Stadium.

Jimmy Boyle's home side were first to threaten, and they opened the scoring in the 14th minute through the second division's top scorer, Ryan Donnelly.

Sons equalised after 30 minutes when centre half Alan Lithgow headed home a Scott Agnew corner, but their hosts struck back immediately when a seemingly offside John Boyle netted after a fine break by the no.11.

The visitors — fired up after a trialist no.5 first fouled Sons skipper Bryan Prunty then stamped on his head and was sent off — took control in the later stages, though had to be on their toes because of quick breakaways by the United forwards.

Their second equaliser came when Scott Agnew took advantage of the wind and scored direct from a corner kick, and with just two minutes left sub striker Pat Walker hit home the winner.
